The City Tour is an excellent way to orient yourself with the layout of Duluth.
You’ll be whisked away from your hotel in our comfortable van and begin your tour in Proctor at the Mallet 225 steam locomotive. In it’s heyday, the steamer ran at 6000hp and could pull 200 cars. We then meander across Skyline Parkway, Duluth’s scenic drive curving through the hills surrounding Duluth 700 feet above the city. Next, a visit to Enger Tower for photos and a stop at Hawk Ridge- where hawks and eagles can be seen during their spring and fall migrations. A trip past the Historic Central High School building to admire the unique architecture of this city jewel built in 1892. You’ll then head to Brighton Beach on Lake Superior’s North Shore. Lake Superior, the world’s largest freshwater lake with 31280 square miles of surface area will enchant you with its beauty. Then back down London Road to Glensheen Historic Mansion- the Congdon Family home completed in 1908. Also included in the tour are stops at Leif Erickson Park and Duluth’s Rose Garden with over 3000 roses and 12000 non-rose plantings. You'll see the Fitger’s Brewery Complex, a renovated brewery that includes, shops, restaurants, a museum, hotel and access to Duluth’s Lakewalk. Then off to view the William A Irvin, a retired Great Lakes freighter and the US Coast Guard vessel, the Sundew. A trip across Duluth’s one of a kind Aerial Lift Bridge to the Minnesota Point, and back to Canal Park to tour the Marine Museum, watch ships enter and leave the port or visit one of the many shops and restaurants in this revived warehouse district. From there a return trip to your hotel, where we drop you off wishing you could see it all again!
